In this weeks blog I want to share the most inspirational books for female entrepreneurs I have read this year. I am deeply enthusiastic and passionate about entrepreneurial life and devour books, podcasts, conferences, webinars……. everything I can get my hands on to help me grow personally and drive my business forward. For me the entrepreneurial journey is not simply about my business, its about how that sits alongside and around my life. Being an entrepreneur for me is a lifestyle and so the books I have chosen aren’t just to do with business, they’re about self care and wellness to. I hope they bring you as much pleasure, inspiration and motivation as they did me. If you have any awesome books you would like to share please pop them in the comments below. I’m always on the look out for the next big read!
Let’s dive in!
This is a blueprint for anyone building a founder led brand. From the front to the back I don’t think there’s one page where I didn’t learn something that added real value to my business. Chris makes the dark art of branding accessible to everyone. He gets you to really focus on all the deep stuff that underpins your business and gives you your USP and voice. I couldn’t put it down and walked away with a notepad full of ideas and actions.
This wonderful little book is the kind you keep beside your bed and dip into regularly. It’s packed with bite sized wellness advice for busy, working women. It’s split into five sections covering how to bring more LOVE, HOPE, PEACE, JOY and LIGHT into your life. There are recipes, exercises, inspiring quotes and mantras, meditations and great advice from two sisters carving their own entrepreneurial path in this crazy, busy world. It’s an absolute joy!
I love the way Fearne writes, it’s like she is sitting next you having a chat over a coffee. She is bold and honest about her own struggles with depression and anxiety and how she has dealt with them throughout her career and motherhood. The book is interactive with plenty of thought provoking, challenging exercises. She also shares interviews with loads of incredible wellness experts. It’s wonderfully illustrated with Fearne’s own pen and ink drawings making it a joy to look at as well as read. As Fearne puts it, it’s a manual to help you “work through life’s daily stresses to find a peaceful centre”.
The headline on the cover of this book reads, “if you are feeling tired and fed up and wondering if there is more to life, now’s the time to read Thrive” and I couldn’t agree more. I read this over Christmas, at the end of a long, tiring year and it was like a magic tonic. Having created her own media empire, ended up in hospital with serious burnout and raised a family, Arianna speaks directly to the fierce female founder inside you. She tells you, you can achieve your dreams and she guides you through the difficulties with her unique 4 part blueprint. She gets you firing on all four cylinders and makes you look at your life and career through new eyes opening up fresh possibilities to quite literally thrive. Her combination of personal experience and ground breaking scientific research is refreshing and motivating. This is definitely a book you need to read and action.
This is a raising battle cry of a book. A manifesto for all women across the globe to rise up, claim their rightful place in society and ring the changes our united sisterhood can drive. It’s a fascinating real life story of Tererai’s life from a poverty racked Zimbabwe village to a PHD educated thought leader. It’s a story of the power of having a dream and making it come true. It’s empowering, motivational and 100% blow your mind inspiring. This is the book to read if you think you may be dreaming too big or you’re unsure how to make your dream come true.
