Hi there, brave beautypreneur today I want to talk to you about how to build your dream business.
First up, as far as I’m concerned you are already half way there. You have dared to dream. You have taken the hardest steps ever and committed to your big crazy dream of launching a beauty business! To me that means your dream business is closer than you think.
One of the greatest gifts you get when you commit to your dream job is freedom! Freedom to do you own thing, freedom to be creative, freedom to make your own decisions. Or so we are always told anyway!!!!
Now, let’s be honest here, let’s have a dream job reality check. How often do you feel empowered by your freedom?
I probably connect with my inner entrepreneurial goddess about once a week if I am lucky. The rest of the time I am frantically whizzing around trying to fit way too much into every day. One moment I’m an accountant, the next I am big thinking and planning. Then I’m creating Insta content and writing a blog and I haven’t even started to do my actual paid work yet!!! Then there’s the family to organise, the dogs to walk and the house to look after. FREEDOM, SERIOUSLY!
I bet you feel exactly the same.
One of the reasons we struggle to embrace our freedom is we bring our past work habits into our new roles. Habits are hard to break and we trail them around for ages.
We believe we have to start working at 9am and finish at 5pm. If we don’t work all this time we feel engulfed with guilt. We sit rigidly at our desks all day because it’s ingrained in us to prove that we are working hard. We send emails early in the morning and late at night to highlight our dedication. We eat our lunch at our desks because we have so much to do.
I want to encourage you to break these habits.
I want to inspire you to look at work in a different way in 2019.
I want to show you how you can build your dream business and get the freedom it promises.
I want you to change things up; play around; experiment.
There is no written in stone way to run a business.
There is no must follow formula.
Being an entrepreneur means you can run your business any way you like. You can run your business your way!
Build your business around your life. Don’t build your life around your business.
Work the hours that suit you.
Move away from your desk and work in places that inspire and motivate.
Ignore spreadsheets if they confuse and numb you.
Let your creativity shape your processes.
Design your job so it brings a smile to your face every morning and makes you jump out of bed with a fire in your belly.
Be an individual, be you!
This is a topic that is close to my heart as I am working really hard on doing just this. For the last few years I have grafted to create my dream business and I am so proud of what I have achieved. But, it has come at a cost and late last year I realised I needed to make some changes or burn out.
I am working on reshaping the way I run my business. I’m saying “bye bye” to all those corporate habits that are still hanging around even after 5 years. I am embracing my creativity and making sure my work focuses around my strengths and that I give myself time to breathe and just be me.
One of the major changes I have made is to stop thinking and planning in straight lines and lists. I recognise that my mind is blobby and full of colour. It’s anarchic and often out of control. There is just no point me trying to wrestle all my thoughts into spreadsheets and lists. Instead I am using bullet journal techniques to organise and plan. I am loving the creativity of it and its bringing a real positive energy into my work.
Why not join me on this journey. If we work together on it we’re much more likely to see some results and make the changes we need.
Keep your eyes peeled over on Insta and here in my blog as I share how I’m getting on. I’d love to hear about the changes you are going to make, so pop a comment below or send me an email at email@example.com
