Today I want to share my top 6 tips for trade show success with you. I’ve created an infographic you can print off  and I am going to focus in detail on using your story to generate interest in your brand in this blog.

Let’s get straight into it. Here’s your free infographic.

As independent beauty brands it is a real challenge to stand out and get noticed at trade shows. You are often surrounded by brands with larger budgets, bigger stands and loads of tricks. You can feel isolated and unnoticed. It doesn’t have to be that way. In this blog I share my top 6 tips for trade show success. With a little creativity, passion and dedication (things you are positively oozing with!) you can create pre show interest in your brand which means bloggers, journos, buyers and customers are quite literally queuing up to meet you when the doors open. Read my blog for more details….

Indie Beauty Expo London is now just 3 months away, YAY!!!!! If you are exhibiting then now is THE perfect time to kick start your pre show PR. If you’re not going to be at IBEL then just remember that whatever show you are doing PR needs to start latest, 3 months before the event.

As independent brands it is a real challenge to stand out and get noticed at shows. You are often surrounded by brands with larger budgets, bigger stands and loads of tricks. You can feel isolated and unnoticed. It doesn’t have to be that way.

With a little creativity, passion  and dedication (things you are positively oozing with!) you can create pre show interest in your brand which means bloggers, journos, buyers and customers are quite literally queuing up to meet you when the doors open.

One way of doing this is to use your STORY.

Your brand story is unique to you. It’s what makes you so totally different and it’s what will catch the attention and interest of trade show attendees.

In a recent article for Beauty Independent Marie Drago, founder of Gallinnee put her trade show success down to telling her story warts and all. She said

It was also very interesting for us to realize that people love to hear about the difficulties, the production problems, and all the less-shiny aspects of having a brand. I was not expecting this, and it was a good learning for us about not hiding anything.”

The growth of indie beauty is based on an ever growing market of conscientious consumers who want to connect with brands and their founders. They want to understand why brands exist, how products are made and what founders stand for and believe in. They are interested in the highs and lows, the problems and challenges. They want transparency. They want to understand and be part of your story.

So use the run up to a trade show to tell your story. Take people behind the scenes of your prep. Lift the curtain and give them a glimpse of what it’s like to run a beauty brand.

You can use your blog, you can do a trade show diary, and you can use all your social media platforms, Instagram Stories, Instagram TV and YouTube.

Why not contact bloggers and journos and invite them to join you on your journey. Give them an opportunity to get involved and look at the beauty industry from a different angle. Journalists are always looking for new angles and new content. If you catch them at the right time they are likely to bite your hand off. What have you got to loose. Write that email now!

None of this will cost you a penny.

You just need to start talking and writing.

If you are exhibiting at IBEL then I challenge you to create your first post as soon as you finish reading this blog. It’s that simple. You just need to DO IT!

This Thursday 26th July I am hosting an online masterclass called ROCK YOUR TRADE SHOW. I am going to go into far more detail in it about how to use your story as well as a load more easy and achievable ways to stand out, get noticed and make some money at your next trade show.

The masterclass will help you prepare for any trade show and the 4 point plan I teach can also be used to promote product launches.

The plan is simple, clear and achievable. It guides you through 4 steps that will get you noticed by the press, by bloggers, by the event organisers and potential customers. The masterclass in an online webinar and comes complete with a downloadable course booklet, a Trade Show Timeline Planner and a Social Media Planner.

The plan looks like this

Point 1:     Press Gang – a strategy to get the industry talking about your amazingness
Point 2:     Blogger Blitz – a plan to create a real buzz around your products, ingredients and effectiveness
Point 3:     On side Organiser – work in partnership with event organisers to maximise every opportunity available to you
Point 4:     Sizzling Social Media – build excitement and awareness with defined and tailored content for each of your social channels
The class is on 26th July 1030am – 1230pm UK time. If you can’t make it live, like all my masterclasses it will be recorded and so you catch up in your own time.

The best bit is the class is just £35. £35 for a 2 hour webinar, a course booklet, a Trade Show Timeline Planner and a Social Media Planner. When you start rocking your trade show you are going to recoup your investment tenfold and don’t forget this is a blueprint you can roll out time and time again for every trade show and product launch you do.

If you want to reserve your place then just click HERE

I also have a couple of VIP days available if you want to super boost your trade show prep. This would really suit you if you have committed to IBE in October. The VIP package follows the four point plan I have described above the difference being I hold your hand and support you the whole way through. We create a timeline together, we work on copy, letters and press releases together, we meet up regularly online for strategy sessions and progress reviews, and we create social media content together. I think you get the picture. I only have 2 of these intense one to one packages available so if you’re interested email me now at rachel@indiebeautydelivers.com and we can have a chat about it in more detail. The cost of a VIP Package is £525 +VAT.

Well, that’s it for this week’s blog.

Don’t forget to print your free infographic and click HERE to bag your place on the online masterclass.

Now, go and create that first post and start telling your story. I can’t wait to read it!
